The glass eye at the end of this spoon is full of meticulously crafted details. The iris of the eye is filled with many very fine striations of colored glass. Much more work went into this particular pipe (compared to the other glass eye pipes that I usually sell). I started with a tube of amber colored glass, I added small color accents, and put on light coats of gold and silver fume. I great variety of colors can be achieved by layering varying amounts of silver and gold fume. I then put the decorated tube into a separate larger clear tube of glass and fused the two tubes into one thick one. By encasing the colorful tube in an outer layer of clear I gave the colors more of a glossy look, and more depth. The lighter in the last photo is a standard sized Bic.

The eye on this pipe does not turn red - there is no such thing. There's a photo floating around online that supposedly shows before and after of a glass eye pipe where the eye turns red when you smoke out of it. It's a fake. If you look closely at the details you can tell that it's really two separate pipes. There is no glass that will turn red when you heat it with a lighter. The color changing of this pipe is the pipe itself - very slowly as resin builds up.
