Glass Eye Pipe (Encased Cobalt + UV), Glass Eyeball Pipe, Glass Smoking Pipe, Tobacco Pipes, Glass Art, Heady Glass Pipe, Glass Pipes

This is a larger version of these encased pipes that I make. 178 grams. The glass eye at the end of this spoon is full of meticulously crafted details. The iris of the eye is filled with many very fine striations of colored glass. Much more work went into this particular pipe (compared to the other glass eye pipes that I usually sell). I started with a tube of cobalt blue colored glass, I added small color accents, and put on light coats of gold and silver fume. I great variety of colors can be achieved by layering varying amounts of silver and gold fume. I then put the decorated tube into a separate larger clear tube of glass and fused the two tubes into one thick one. By encasing the colorful tube in an outer layer of clear I gave the colors more of a glossy look, and more depth. This is a nice and heavy/thick piece.

This one is also decorated with multiple different UV reactive colors (black light glow).

There is no such thing as a glass eye that turns red when you smoke out of it. The photo that you've seen that supposedly shows before and after is a fake. It's two separate pipes. The only color changing that happens with the eye pipes is the pipe itself - as resin builds up. Note: a cobalt pipe like this one will not change color much at all. Having a dark backing color, like cobalt or black, is pretty much a shortcut to the color change that happens from resin build up.

All of the layers of glass used in this piece are borosilicate glass, which is much more durable than standard glass. Kiln annealed for durability. The lighter in the last photo is a standard sized Bic.
