The glass eye at the end of this spoon is full of meticulously crafted details. The iris has tons of intricate striations. It has been coated with colored glass powder and was fumed with silver (for color changing). It was made with high quality, durable borosilicate (Pyrex) glass and kiln annealed. The lighter in the last photo is a standard sized Bic.

There's a photo floating around online that supposedly shows before and after of a glass eye pipe where the eye turns red when you smoke out of it. It's a fake. If you look closely at the details you can tell that it's really two separate pipes. There is no glass that will turn red when you heat it with a lighter. The only color changing that happens with these eye pipes is with the pipe itself as resin builds up over the silver fume areas. This particular pipe has a fairly dense covering of colored glass, not leaving much silver fume exposed for color changing.
