This super detailed glass banana slug sculpture is permanently mounted on a naturally polished piece of driftwood. It's made with a more durable type of glass called borosilicate (the type used in scientific applications, and that Pyrex used to be made of). It has also been kiln annealed to increase its strength.
It's a life sized, realistic sculpture of the Ariolimax californicus (native to California and Oregon). It also happens to be the school mascot of UC Santa Cruz (UCSC) - Sammy the Slug.
This one of a kind piece of art was hand made in our small family studio on the coast of Northern California.

I am so happy with this beautiful piece of art. The tiny details, color, and movement of this piece captures what I love about banana slugs so perfectly. Wrapped with care and arrived quickly, I highly recommend.
